4.1i FPGA Editor - When I use the GUI "Probes" button, the dialogue box that formerly appeared does not come up, and the probe is automatically added

Keywords: FPGA Editor, probes, automatic, button

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
After I select a net and click on the Probes button in FPGA Editor, the tool automatically begins routing the net to the closest pad. The Probes button used to bring up a dialogue box -- what happened?

In version 3.1i, selecting the Probes button would open the Probe dialog box. However, as all other action buttons in FPGA Editor perform functions, the Probe button was changed in version 4.1i to automatically run a probe on a selected net.

The length of time the process takes depends upon the size of the device (pins) and the change to a new router for Probes (please see (Xilinx Answer 13322) for more information on this).

In the 4.1i/4.2i releases, you may access the Probe dialogue box, by simply clicking on Tools -> Probes from the main menu. This will give you the same dialogue box and functionality that were present in version 3.1i.

In a future release, there will be two buttons: one for automatically adding probes, and another to bring up the Probes dialogue box.
