4.2i Virtex-II MAP - Faulty shape information from MAP leads to bad placement and an unroutable shiftout-to-shiftin connection

Description

Keywords: MAP, PAR, SRL16, shift, register, shiftout, shiftin, unrouted, unroutable

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
An issue exists wherein an unrouted shiftout/shiftin connection occurs because the slices were placed in the wrong relative position. The bad placement is caused by some faulty "shape" information that was produced by MAP and passed to the placer.

Solution

You may work around this problem by setting the following PAR environment variable, which instructs the placer to ignore the shape information from MAP and use its own algorithms to determine placement:

Workstations:
setenv XIL_PAR_NOSHAPEPROC 1

PCs:
set XIL_PAR_NOSHAPEPROC=1
