AR# 17522: 6.1i ECS - RTL schematic Viewer does not behave correctly under Linux Red Hat
6.1i ECS - RTL schematic Viewer does not behave correctly under Linux Red Hat
Keywords: RTL, view, viewer, ECS, MDI, Floating , embedded, Project Navigator, Linux, Red Hat, schematic, 8.0, 7.3
General Description: An RTL Schematic window may be given one of three modes (Docked, Floating, MDI Child) relative to the ECS GUI. The ECS RTL Schematic Viewer does not work properly on Linux Red Hat when used as a floating or docked window. The known issues with this combination are:
1. A user will not be able to select elements in the schematic window. 2. The schematic will not be shown if "regenerate schematic" is run after the original schematic is closed. 3. The minimize and maximize buttons on the top right of the schematic will not work.
This issue has been seen only on Linux Red Hat (versions 7.3 and 8.0) when the RTL schematic (.ngr) is Floating or Docked. To view an RTL schematic on Linux, Red Hat, the schematic must be used as a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) Child Window. To make this change, right-click on the schematic title bar and select MDI Child.
On the other supported platforms the RTL viewer may be successfully used with schematic windows in any of the three modes. Design entry schematics (.sch) and symbol (.sym) files may be viewed and edited in any mode on all supported platforms. However, the minimize and maximize buttons will not function properly when using Linux.
