3.2 EDK SP2 - The disassembler doesn't handle the WIC instructions

Description

Keywords: EDK, 3.2, assembler, WIC

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
I am trying to use the asm("wic r11, r11"); WIC instruction, but it does not appear to be correctly translated in the ".o" file. The ".s" file clearly has the correct instruction in it:

#APP
wic r11, r11
#NO_APP

This means that the compiler is not the cause of the bug. The assembler then assembles the instruction into the ".o" file. Using "mb-objump -S file.o", you can disassemble the code, to see if the WIC instruction is still there:

asm("wic r11, r11");
48: 916b5868 r11, r11, r11

The disassembler is not interpreting the opcode correctly.

Solution

This does not affect the hardware implementation and will be resolved in the EDK 6.1 release.
