6.3i/6.2i/6.1i XST- "Warning:Xst:1605 - Primary port name 'port_name' not found for this constraint"

Keywords: 1415, XCF, I/O, bidi, bidirectional, IOBUF

When I use the ".xcf" constraints file and specify an OFFSET IN constraint on a bidirectional port, the following warnings occur:

"WARNING:Xst:1605 - Primary port name 'port_name' not found for this constraint."
"WARNING:Xst:1415 - No path found for this constraint."

XST incorrectly processes a bidirectional port as an output port only when considering OFFSET constraints. Consequently, an OFFSET OUT constraint passes without warnings, but an OFFSET IN constraint generates the warnings listed above. To work around this issue, turn on write_timing_constraints as follows:

1. Right-click the "Synthesize - XST" process.
2. Select "Properties...".
3. In the "Synthesis Options' tab, select "Write Timing Constraints".

NOTE: However, enabling the "Write Timing Constraints" switch does not cause the warnings to disappear. Instead, the timing constraint is propagated to the ".ngc" file.

This issue has been fixed in ISE 7.1i
