6.1 System Generator for DSP and XtremeDSP Development Kit - Why do I get an "index out of range" or "Index exceeds matrix dimensions." error when generating a Hardware in the Loop Co-Sim block?

Description

General Description:

When generating a Hardware Co-Sim block, an "index out of range" or "Index exceeds matrix dimensions" error message occurs. A System Generator for DSP pop-up box appears with the following message:

"Error Running XtremeDSPPCIPostGeneration. Index exceeds matrix dimensions."

Why are these errors occurring?

Solution

For SysGen to create the Hardware Co-Sim block, you must have at least one input or one output that is routed to or from the System Generator for DSP.

NOTES:

- The input port for the ADCs on the Xtreme DSP Development kit do not count as a port for the Hardware in the Loop Co-Sim block, since it has to be mapped to the hardware on the board, and will not be routed back to the System Generator for DSP.

- The output port for the DACs on the Xtreme DSP Development kit do not count as a port for the Hardware in the Loop Co-Sim block, since it has to be mapped to the hardware on the board, and will not be routed back to the System Generator for DSP.

For information on the maximum number of inputs, please see (Xilinx Answer 18104).
