6.1i IBISWriter - The use of bidirectional pins causes IBISWriter to fail, reporting "ERROR:PostProcessors:38" (Virtex-II Pro)

Description

General Description:

When I attempt to generate an IBIS file for a Virtex-II Pro device using bidirectional pins, the following errors occur:

"IBISWriter: There is no buffer model available for the IOB at site M27 because the following configuration value is unsupported:

DIRECTION: BIDIR

IBISWriter: There is no buffer model available for the IOB at site P30 because the following configuration value is unsupported:

DIRECTION: BIDIR"

This message may be repeated several times, followed by:

"ERROR:PostProcessors:38 - Xilinx IBISWriter has detected the above errors. No IBIS output file has been created. Please correct the errors and try running IBISWriter again. XIL_MEMUSAGE - process used 58589184 bytes of memory."

Solution

IBISWriter previously issued a fatal error when no buffer model was available; however, a warning is now issued, and an output.ibs file is still created.

This problem has been fixed in the latest 6.1i Service Pack, available at:

http://support.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 6.1i Service Pack 2.
