ISE 6.1SP2 ReportGen - An erroneous drive strength is reported in the PAD report

Description

Urgency: Hot.

General Description:

In the PAD report generated for my design, the Drive column does not display the value that I set in my constraint file. Some IOPADs are showing 0 mA drive strength. How can I be sure that my design is correctly implemented?

Solution

This is fixed in the latest 6.2i Service Pack, available at:

http://support.xilinx.com/xlnx/xil_sw_updates_home.jsp
The first service pack containing the fix is 6.2i Service Pack 1.

You can also ensure that your design is implemented with respect to your constraint requirement by referring to the MAP report. The MAP report includes a table summary of the IOB configuration for your design.

Alternatively, once your design is placed and routed, you can open it in the FPGA Editor. The FPGA Editor shows exactly how the FPGA's IOBs are configured once it is programmed. You can view your design in FPGA Editor as follows:

1. In Project Navigator, expand the Implement Design tree.

2. Expand the Place and Route tree.

3. Click View/Edit Design (FPGA Editor).

See the software documentation for more information on using the FPGA Editor.
