COREGen IP Licensing 6.2i - When generating a core, the following message occurs: "Valid License Not Found"

Description

General Description:

When I try to generate the cores listed below, a gray box appears with the following message:

"You do not have a valid license to generate the implementation

netlists for the <core_name> core, because the license file

<core_name.lic> could not be found. However you may use the

customization GUI for this core to generate simulation files"

Cores

- XAUI

- Gigabit Ethernet MAC

- 10 Gigabit Ethernet MAC

- 1000BASE-X PCS/PMA

Also, when I try to generate the core, there are no simulation files provided.

Solution

PC Users

The required built-in evaluation licenses are missing in the ISE 6.2i software installation. These licenses should be located in the core_licenses/ folder in the "%XILINX%\data\" directory. When COREGen tries to generate the core, it cannot locate the built-in evaluation licenses and, consequently, cannot generate the output products needed to generate the simulation models (Ethernet cores).

You can solve this problem by extracting the files from the following location to the "%XILINX%\data" directory (exit COREGen before you extract the files):

http://www.xilinx.com/txpatches/pub/swhelp/coregen/core_licenses.zip

Restart COREGen and proceed as usual to generate the evaluation core.

Restart COREGen and proceed as usual to generate the evaluation core.
