When using the LogiCORE XAUI v6.0 in 7.1i Service Pack 3 or later, with a design that worked in 7.1i Service Pack 2, I receive the following warnings or errors during PAR:
WARNING:Place:661 - GT11 component transceivers_i/GT11_XAUI_2_INST2 is neither
set to GT11_MODE = A nor GT11_MODE = B
WARNING:Place:662 - GT11 Component transceivers_i/GT11_XAUI_2_INST2 does not
have GT11_MODE set. Since it is locked overriding the GT11 grouping for
COMBUS routing requirement
ERROR:Place:663 - GT11 Component INST_XAUI_PHY/transceivers_i/GT11_XAUI_2_INST2
does not have GT11_MODE set. The component is connected to
INST_XAUI_PHY/transceivers_i/GT11_XAUI_2_INST via the COMBUSIN[0:15]
COMBUSOUT[0:15] buses. The GT11_MODE property is required to identify a valid
placement for this pair of components
The problem is that 7.1i Service Pack 3 changed the GT11_MODE attribute behavior which causes the above failures. Prior to Service Pack 3, the XAUI v6.0 Core relied on the tools to properly place each MGT. Now, it is required that Mode A or Mode B be selected to ensure the MGTs are placed correctly.
A patch is available to resolve this issue. To obtain this fix, install the patch that is available in the LogiCORE XAUI v6.0 Core Release Notes and Known Issues Answer Record (Xilinx Answer 21047) and then regenerate the core.
