8.1i ISE - Launching ISE Simulator from Project Navigator project with spaces results in "ERROR:HDLCompilers:175 - Source file <partial project path> does not exist"

Description

Keywords: ISIM, Project Navigator, simulation, model, spaces, fuse, dpm_flowUtilsExec, post-route, behavioral

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
Starting Behavioral or Post-Route simulation with the ISE simulator results in HDLCompilers:175 error.

Example: A project named test is created in a directory named C:\my projects. The project contains a test bench with the Entity name testbench. When either the Simulate Behavioral Model process or the Simulate Post-Place & Route Model process are run, the following errors are displayed in the console.

Running Fuse ...
Compiling project file "./testbench_beh__vlog.prj"
ERROR:HDLCompilers:175 - Source file C:\my does not exist
Parsing C:\my: 0.01
ERROR (dpm_flowUtilsExec):
ERROR: fuse failed

Solution

Simulation with the ISE Simulator does not work correctly when spaces exist in the project path. This issue is scheduled to be fixed in the next major release.

To work around the issue, rename the project path to remove spaces or copy the project to a directory which does not include spaces in the path.
