7.1i SP2, EDK/GNU - Can I reset the target system through GDB?

Description

Keywords: EDK, GNU, Tcl, GDB, XMD

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
I have created a script in GDB. If I run this script twice, the second run fails because the interrupt controller cannot be re-initialized. It needs to be reset. I can achieve this manually by pressing the reset button on the board or by typing "rst" into the XMD prompt, but how can I do this in the GDB script?

Solution

There is no way from GDB to reset the processor or system.

You can use XMD TCL script to perform the same operation. In the next release of EDK (i.e., in 8.1i), reset of the System/Processor between multiple runs can be controlled from XMD (i.e., by default the system is reset between multiple runs in XMD or GDB).
