7.1i CORE Generator - "_wincg.exe" error occurs when invoking Memory Editor: "_wincg.exe will be terminated"

Keywords: wincg, CORE, COREGen

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When invoking Memory Editor from the CORE Generator Tools menu, I receive the following error:

"An error has occurred and as a result, _wincg.exe will be terminated. We apologize for the inconvenience."

This problem can occur if there is a version mismatch (COREGen launched from one location, but the XILINX variable is set to another location\version).

If the problem is not resolved after verifying that the PATH (or direct link) and XILINX variables point to the same ISE software version, try the following two procedures to see if Memory Editor will open correctly.

- Run CORE Generator through Project Navigator. Run ISE (this is a shell that sets the environment variables for the version executed and then runs "_pn.exe"), then launch Manage Cores and open Memory Editor.

- Select a memory core beforehand, then invoke the Memory Editor.
