When I select LeonardoSpectrum as the Synthesis Tool in the Project Navigator Project Properties dialog box, I receive the following notice. What are the implications of this notice?
"Notice: Leonardo Spectrum integrated synthesis support will only be available through ISE 8.2i. Starting in ISE 9.1i, Leonardo Spectrum synthesis will only be supported through EDIF with Leonardo Spectrum outside of ISE. Please consider migrating from Leonardo Spectrum to another of the integrated ISE synthesis selections: Xilinx XST, Mentor Graphics Precision, or Synplicity Synplify."
- LeonardoSpectrum (VHDL) and LeonardoSpectrum (Verilog) will continue to be selectable Synthesis Tool options throughout the remainder of the ISE 8.1i and 8.2i release cycle. This includes all service pack releases for ISE 8.1i and ISE 8.2i. In the ISE 9.1i software release, LeonardoSpectrum will not be a selectable option in the Project Navigator Project Options.
- In ISE 9.1i the selectable Synthesis Tool options will be: XST (VHDL/Verilog), Synplify (VHDL), Synplify (Verilog), Synplify Pro (VHDL/Verilog), and Precision (VHDL/Verilog).
- LeonardoSpectrum users will still be able to create and implement designs in ISE 9.1i. However, there will be no LeonardoSpectrum integration built into Project Navigator. LeonardoSpectrum can be used to synthesize a design and output an EDIF netlist. This synthesized netlist may be added to an ISE 9.1i Project Navigator project as a source file and implemented in a Xilinx device.
- Xilinx recommends that LeonardoSpectrum users consider migrating to Xilinx XST, Synplicity Synplify, or Mentor Precision, in order to maintain fully integrated synthesis in Project Navigator 9.1i.
