CPLD - Can an automotive device (XA) be programmed with a non-automotive (XC) Jedec file?

Description

Can an automotive device (XA) be programmed with a non-automotive (XC) Jedec file?

Solution

Yes, the Jedec files for both the CoolRunner-II and 9500 Automotive devices (XA) are compatible.

For example, an XC9536XL-10VQ44 Jedec file can be used to program an XA9536XL-10VQ44, or an XC2C32 -4VQ44 can be used to program an XA2C32A -4VQ44 device.

NOTE: The SSTL2_I, SSTL3_I, and HSTL_I I/O standards are not supported in the automotive version CoolRunner-II devices; see (Xilinx Answer 24072).
