9.1i Timing Analyzer - I cannot perform crossprobing to Synplify Pro 8.6.1 from Timing Analyzer

I followed (Xilinx XAPP406) to set the environment variable and opened the Technology view in Synplify Pro8.6.1. However, I cannot find the option <External Cross Probing Engaged> in Synplify Pro.

When I try to perform crossprobing, the following warning message occurs in the console:

"WARNING:InterToolCommunication:14 - In trying to start the Synplicity Cross Probing system, the following was returned: "couldn't open socket: connection refused" Synplicity Cross Probing will not be enabled."

Synplicity no longer supports crossprobing from Timing Analyzer since Synplify Pro 8.1.

However, you can work around this issue as follows:

1. Save the timing report as <design_file>.twr.

2. Open the *.twr file in Synplify Pro.

3. Open the Technology Hierarchical/Flattened view in Synplify Pro.

4. Highlight one path name in the *.twr, and click on the shortcut <Filter on Selected Gates>. A new technology view opens and this path is shown.

See (Xilinx Answer 11247) for more information.
