XST - XST fails with Segmentation Fault in Linux

Description

When I run synthesis using XST, the tool fails or halts with Segmentation Fault on Linux. Why?

Solution

One possible work-around is to change the stacksize to unlimited.

Step to change the stacksize:

1. Type "limit" on the terminal window. You should see the following:

cputime unlimited

filesize unlimited

datasize unlimited

stacksize 10240 kbytes

coredumpsize 0 kbytes

memoryuse unlimited

vmemoryuse unlimited

descriptors 1024

memorylocked 4 kbytes

maxproc 65536

2. Type "limit stacksize unlimited".

3. Type "limit" on the terminal window again. You should see the following:

cputime unlimited

filesize unlimited

datasize unlimited

stacksize unlimited

coredumpsize 0 kbytes

memoryuse unlimited

vmemoryuse unlimited

descriptors 1024

memorylocked 4 kbytes

maxproc 65536
