9.2i ISE Text Editor - Japanese language characters in ISE Text Editor appear corrupted after I select Save

Keywords: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, display, comments, unicode, Verilog, VHDL

Japanese language characters can be entered correctly as comments in HDL or other text files using the ISE Text Editor. However, after the file is saved and opened again, these characters become corrupted and are not displayed correctly.

If the ISE Text Editor is used to open a file that contains more that 50 lines and has Japanese characters in comments, the display is corrupted. This issue appears to be consistent; that is, the same file will have the same errors in the same place every time you open it. To see the difference, the same file can be opened in another Text Editor (e.g., MS Word).

This problem has been fixed in the latest 9.2i Service Pack available at:
The first service pack containing the fix is 9.2i Service Pack 4.
