Some JTAG tools used to play SVF files to program Xilinx CPLDs have problems with carriage returns in the TDO mask values of SVF files where the verify option is used. It will issue a software error specific to the tool.
Carriage returns should not be a problem as a "." is the end of line character. Carriage returns are not illegal in the SVF specification.
To work around this error, open the SVF file in a Text Editor and remove the carriage return that the tool has a problem with. These carriage returns will be found in the middle of an SDR instruction.
