While a process is running in Project Navigator, the user has the option to stop it by right-clicking on the process and selecting Stop, or by selecting the Stop Process icon. Project Navigator returns a message stating that the process was stopped. However, upon viewing a list of open processes on the system, the user might encounter that the application associated with the process is still running.
Project Navigator is terminating the called process. However, in ISE 10.1, each of these main process executables act as a wrapper executable that in turn spawns the actual application (which has the same or similar name). The actual process executable is not being closed.
This problem has been fixed in the latest 10.1 Service Pack available at:
The first service pack containing the fix is 10.1 Service Pack 2.
