LogiCORE FIR Compiler v4.0 - Why does the FIR Compiler fail to generate core if the total number coeffients is more than 34816?

Keywords: FIR, v4.0, crash, CORE Gen, CORE Generator, coregen

What are the limitations that should be considered for the total number for coefficients (the number of coefficient set * number of coefficients per set)?

Why do I encounter the following errors when trying to generate the core with a large number of coffins:

"ERROR:coreutil - Failure to generate output products
ERROR:coreutil:424 - An error occurred while running Java. Please examine the console or coregen log file for a specific IP related error.
For more information please search the Xilinx Answers Database for this error:"

This is a known limitation of the FIR Compiler.

This is known to occur when trying to build a filter with more than 34 coffin sets with 1024 coefficients in each set.

Below are 2 of many possible ways that can be used to work around this limitation:

1. Break the filter up in to several smaller filters.
2. Use a re-loadable filter, and load the coefficients from memory.
