12.1 EDK - XMD crashes when using ChipScope tool plug-ins

Description

When I use a plug-in for my third-party cable, XMD crashes; this happens when I perform one of the following:
  • Using XMD command shell, when you connect to the processor using "connect mb mdm -cable type Xilinx_plugin modulename <plug-in name> [{modulearg <plug-in args>}]".
  • Using SDK IDE, when you select a "3rd Party cable, Xilinx plugin" in the "Configure JTAG Settings" dialog box.

Is there a workaround for this problem?

Solution

Attached is a patch to address this problem.
  1. Make a backup of of the XMD executable located at <EDK_Install>/bin/<OS>/unwrapped.
  2. Download the appropriate ZIP file for your operating system.
  3. Unzip the contents to<EDK_Install>.

The above patches have been included as part of the 12.2 install.
