Install 12.2 - Executing settings script causes environment not to be set up

In my shell I am trying to set up my environment by executing the script:

How can I set up my environment?

In some Linux shells, when a script is executed, the shell will launch a child terminal, execute the script and then the child terminal will close. When this happens, the variables that are supposed to be set are set in the child terminal that gets closed.

To correctly set up your environment you should source the settings scripts rather than executing them:

bourne/bash/c shell:

source ./settings64.(c)sh

korn shell:

. ./settings64.sh
