12.2 : NGC2EDIF encrypts the EDIF netlist when -secure switch is used

Description

NGC2EDIF encrypts the EDIF netlist when -secure switch is used. Why does this occur?

Solution

ngc2edif will create a non-encrypted netlist if -secure is used, so long as there are no security attributes in the netlist.

In 12.2 ngc2edifcreates an encrypted netlist if -secure is used, although there are no security attributes in the netlist. This is a bug and its fixed in ISE software 12.3.

If you want this to work in ISE software 12.2, please download the following patch and follow the readme.

http://www.xilinx.com/txpatches/pub/utilities/fpga/cr570975.zip

Description: Patch to fix ngc2edif -secure issue.

PC :

Unzip the file.

Set environment variable MYXILINX and point to the extracted folder.

For example

ENV Variable Value
MYXILINX C:\<archivepath>\CR570975\rtf\

For example

Linux:

Unzip the file.

Set environment variable MYXILINX and point to the extracted folder.

setenv MYXILINX <archivepath>\CR570975\rtf\

info : The archive file will mimic the Xilinx install tree and MYXILINX should point to the same level as XILINX variable does.

Testing:

Once the files are extracted please retry ngc2edif and the edif netlist should be in plain text.
