12.x ChipScope - MAP reports "ERROR:LIT:292" after inserting ChipScope cores in the design


After adding ChipScope analyzer cores in the design, MAP reports the following error.

ERROR:LIT:292 - The same signal is driving pin D of ISERDES symbol
"xxxxxx", pin D of FLOP symbol "xxxxxx"
(output signal=xxxxxx). A signal driving the D pin of an
ISERDES can not drive any other load.

What is the problem? How can I resolve the problem?


This error occurs because the net from the IBUF to D pin of ISERDES is connected to the ChipScope analyzer cores. But, this net cannot be routed to any load other than the D pin of the ISERDES.

If you want to observe the signal connected to the D pin of ISERDES, a workaround is to use the O pin. THe O pin of ISERDES is the combinational output from the D pin through the ISERDES component. You can connect the O pin to the ChipScope cores instead.
