Licensing - How can I see what licenses are available on a server or on a local machine?

Description

How can I see what licenses are available on a server or on a local machine?

Solution

To check for all available Xilinx licenses, use the Xilinx License Configuration Manager (XLCM) from ISE or the Vivado License Manager (VLM) from Vivado.

  • Open XLCM and select the Manage Xilinx Licenses tab
    or
  • Open VLM and select the View License Status tab.

The license manager will indicate all Xilinx licenses running on servers pointed to by the XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE and LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variables, as well as licenses located in the $HOMEDIR/.xilinx directory.

Alternatively, the "lmutil lmdiag" or lmutil lmstat" commands can be used from a command shell to show all FLEX licenses available in a given directory or running on a given server.

For Example:

lmutil lmdiag -c c:\.xilinx
lmutil lmdiag -c 1700@my_license_server

The following command will list all the features that are available on port 1700 of my_license_server and how many seats are in use.

lmutil lmstat -a -c 1700@my_license_server

Note: The "lmutil lmdiag" command will not return activation based licenses.

Use lmstat or VLM.
