Why is the PROM file size for a format such asMCS larger than the bit file size?


The MCS file that is createdis larger than the bit file size of the FPGAs. There is anoverhead that is added to the PROM file which is used for configuring the PROM; the overhead associated with the PROM does not take up memory content. The PROM file can also be in ASCII format which has a larger file size than the binary bit file.
