4.1i XC4000X MAP/PAR - "ERROR:x4kpl:368 - RPM "X" contains a partial carry logic chain. This is not supported in the current release..."

Description

Keywords: MAP, PAR, carry, chain, x4kpl, CORE Generator, COREGen, Synplify, Express, 3.1i, 2.1i, 1.5i

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
The following PAR errors result when MAP removes portions of the carry chain:

ERROR:x4kpl:368 - RPM "linear_keyer_mult4_multiplier/hset" contains a partial carry logic chain. This is not supported in the current release. Carry logic chains must either be fully contained in the RPM or not in an RPM at all. The carry logic chain is broken at CLB "logo_insert_chroma_y2<2>" and is driven by CLB "logo_insert_chroma_y2<0>" which is not contained in this RPM. Please fix this problem before continuing.

ERROR:x4kpl:368 - RPM "linear_keyer_mult4_multiplier/hset" contains a partial carry logic chain. This is not supported in the current release. Carry logic chains must either be fully contained in the RPM or not in an RPM at all. The carry logic chain is broken at CLB "logo_insert_chroma_y2<4>" and is driven by CLB "logo_insert_chroma_y2<2>" which is not contained in this RPM. Please fix this problem before continuing.

Solution

1

This problem results from the fact that FPGA Express does not RLOC carry chains for 4K devices.

A fix to FPGA Express is expected to resolve this problem.

2

If your design contains a CORE Generator module, and you are receiving the above error messages in 2.1i, try regenerating the CORE Generator module with CORE Generator 2.1i.

Version 2.1i is more strict about the RPM rule than 1.5i; thus, some RPM that previously passed 1.5i will not pass 2.1i.
