I have a project located in a Symbolic Link location. If I attempt to open the ISE project, I get a pop-up error with a message like the following.
The location 'temp' is read only.
Unable to create this path
I create a folder c:\temp\test
Create ISE project in this folder
Open an administrator command window (SHIFT-right-click... run as administrator)
> cd c:\temp
> mklink /d testlink test
Directory of C:\temp
24/05/2012 10:49 <DIR> test
24/05/2012 10:50 <SYMLINKD> testlink [test]
I browse to this folder in Explorer, open testlink and then double-click the .xise file and get the message shown above.
To work around this, open Project Navigator first from the start menu and then open the project in the SYMLINKed folder.
Note: Symbolic Linked directory usage is not officially supported with ISE Design Suite, and other tools such as CORE Generator may not work as expected.
