The report IP status says:
"Newer version requires a different project part. Please consider the impact on design before upgrading the IP."
However, I can see that a newer version of my core is available for the current part.
For example, I see this message when I have a Clocking Wizard 3.3 IP core in my design and the Clocking Wizard 5.0 version is shown in the IP catalog as available for the current project device.
This message might be generated incorrectly if the IP core in the design is older than the Vivado supported upgradable versions for the given IP.
The message should indicate that an upgrade is not available for this version of the IP.
In the example above, the user would have to first upgrade the Clocking Wizard v3.3 in ISE Design Suite 14.x to the latest version that is available, and then re-try the upgrade within the Vivado tool.
This message will be changed in Vivado Design Suite 2013.3 to more accurately explain the state of the IP Core and the suggested action.
