LogiCORE IP Video Deinterlacer v3.00.a - Why does the Video Deinterlacer sometimes hang when the video input is interrupted?

Description

Why does the Video Deinterlacer sometimes hang when the video input is interrupted?

Why does a reset not restore the Video Deinterlacer to a working condition?

Solution

This is a known issue that can occur when a partial frame is input into the Video Deinterlacer.

You can work around this by using the Video Timing Controller (VTC) and the Video In to AXI4-Stream cores to monitor the incoming video and make sure that only valid frames are sent to the Video Deinterlacer.

  1. Monitor the VTC Detection Lock.
    • If the input Video stream is interrupted, the VTC will note that lock has been lost.
  2. Halt the VTC, which then halts the output of the Video In to AXI4-Stream core output.
  3. Reset the Video Deinterlacer.
  4. Restart the VTC, which will then restart the Video Out to AXI4-Stream output on the next valid frame.
