iMPACT 14.7 - How to change cable speed in iMPACT when connecting to a remote device?

Description

How do I change cable speed in iMPACT when connected remotely to a device?

Solution

The iMPACT GUI will not allow for this as when you try to select "remote" in the Cable Setup window, the port drop-down box will disappear.

However, there is a workaround to do this in iMPACT batch mode.

Open impact batch mode and enter the following commands

setMode -bs
setcable -port usb21 -baud 12000000 -server hostname:50001

This example uses a Platform Cable USB II and sets the cable speed to 12 MHz (12000000 = 12 MHz).

baud sets the baud rate for the cable link connection.

server specifies the remote server from which the cable operations will be formed.

Use the format hostname:port where hostname is either a machine name or IP address, and port is the TCP port to which the programming cable is connected on the remote server.

If no port is specified, use the default port value of 50001.

All other iMPACT batch mode commands can be found in the iMPACT help:

Click Configuring and Programming a Device > iMPACT Help > Command Line and Batch Mode > Batch mode > Alphabetical Listing of Batch Mode Commands.
