Issues MIGHT be seen when installing the drivers for the Maxim Integrated Power Dongle from the v2.00.1 installer.
The dongle might fail to enable or might not be recognized in the GUI due to a driver issue.
In this situation, the dongle can show up as MAXPOWERTOOL001# in Device Manager:
If the drivers are correctly installed, they will show up as a COM port, not as MAXPOWERTOOL001#.
To resolve this potential driver issue, you can do the following:
The driver should then initialize, and 'Digital Power Controller' should be seen under Ports (COM & LPT) in Device Manager.
The dongle should then be recognized, the green light should be seen on the dongle, and connection to the GUI should be successful.
Note that Windows cannot verify the digital signature of the driver.
