Description

Why does the HDMI RX Subsystem sometimes fail to detect some input formats at 10 and 12 bits per color when using the DRU?

Solution

This is a known issue that can sometimes cause input formats of 10 and 12-bit color depths to be incorrectly detected when using resolutions that require the DRU (See the Video PHY Product Guide for details on which resolutions require the use of the DRU.)

Switching modes again (either resolution or bit width) usually fixes the issue.

  • 2016.2 - Users can download the HDMI Receiver Subsystem patch from (Xilinx Answer 67703) to work around this issue.
  • 2016.3 - This issue is resolved in the HDMI Receiver Subsystem in Vivado 2016.3 and later and users should update to the latest version of the IP.
