To ensure a reliable connection to the ZCU102 System Controller GUI (SCUI.exe), follow the steps below.
It is important to make sure that the UART connection is set up correctly, and also to ensure that you are using the appropriate version of the SCUI for the silicon / software / firmware versions you are using.
1) If there are issues connecting to the UART port, please see (Xilinx Answer 69258).
While the latest version of the UART driver should work, it might be necessary to change the driver version back to version 6.7.0.
Please restart your machine once the driver version has been changed.
The Device Manager can be used to check the current version of the driver used on your machine.
2) Ensure the JTAG USB cable and UART USB cable are both attached to the ZCU102 and a PC during SCUI.exe activity.
3) To ensure you are using the appropriate version of the System Controller software for the silicon on your ZCU102, check the IDCODE of the device on your board.
To do this, open the Vivado Hardware Manager and check the Hardware Device Properties.
For more details, see (Xilinx Answer 37579).
Note: ES stands for Engineering Sample silicon; C stands for Production silicon.
4) When you power up the ZCU102, open a terminal window (whether TeraTerm, Putty, etc.) connected to Interface 3. At the prompt type '@ver'.
This will give you the version of the firmware on the particular board you have and will represent a date, for example 5/17, 7/5 etc.
If this date is 5/17 or earlier, then the 2016.4 version of the System Controller GUI should be used with this board.
Press ESC to exit out of this mode, and load the 2016.4 version of the System Controller GUI on to the board.
If this date is more recent than 5/17, use the latest version of the System Controller GUI available on the ZCU102 Product page.
