4.1i Licensing - Floating licenses for computer names with spaces in them cause a "Not a valid server host name" error
Description
Keywords: license, FLEXlm, floating, host name
Urgency: Standard
General Description: When I run a floating license server on a machine, following error message is returned:
"computer name.domain":Not a valid server host name, exiting. Valid server hosts are: [name in license file] Using license file "license.dat"
Solution
This problem occurs if spaces exist in the name of the computer. The space in the name can cause problems even if the IP address is used in the license file.
The problem can be solved by changing the name of the computer on the network/domain, or by using a node-locked license.
