DisplayPort TX/RX Subsystem - Do the DisplayPort Subsystems IPs support active or passive adaptors to HDMI, DVI, or VGA?

Description

Do the DisplayPort Subsystems IPs (DisplayPort 1.2/1.4 RX/TX Subsystems) support active or passive adaptors to HDMI, DVI, or VGA?

Solution

Passive Adaptors:

Passive Adaptors will not work with the DisplayPort Subsystems IPs.

This is because the IPs currently do not support the VESA DisplayPort Interoperability Guidelines (also known as DisplayPort++), which is required to support Passive DisplayPort cables.

Active Adaptors:

The DisplayPort Subsystems IPs should work with active cables, but this is not tested and is not supported by Xilinx.

Customers wanting to support Active Adaptors should do their own testing and qualification.
