HDMI Receiver Subsystem v3.1 (Rev 2) - Why do I see a broken line when receiving green color in 4KP60 format?

Description

When the HDMI source sends an image that has mostly green or a pure green color, a broken line will occasionally appear:

  • If the HDMI Source initializes with this image, HDMI RX cannot detect the correct stream ID.
  • When the HDMI Source initializes with a working color pattern and then switches to the green image, the HDMI RX can detect the image but there are some artifacts at the line.

What can cause this problem?

Solution

This is a known issue which can occur when the HDMI stream is scrambled and encrypted (for example, 4kp60).

When the HDMI RX mistakenly detects false control signals, the subsequent data processing uses incorrect data detected on the current line, until the next valid control signal is detected.

This issue will be fixed in Vivado 2019.2 and later.
