The ISE 9.2i and 10.1i tools indicate that the evaluation license for XPS_LL_TEMAC has expired on Dec 31, 2008 and Jun 30, 2009 respectively, and I cannot build a bitstream.
ERROR:Xst:1484 - A core is unlicensed!
Do I need a license to use the hard TEMAC in a Virtex-4 or Virtex-5 FPGA?
Solution
XPS_LL_TEMAC is structured so that both the hard and soft cores are generated by the same block of code, selected by the parameter C_TEMAC_TYPE.
As a result, a valid evaluation license for the soft core is required to generate the hard core.
Here are the work-arounds to overcome this issue:
1. Upgrade to the latest EDK release available to ensure unexpired hardware evaluation licenses are available.
OR
2. The permanent work-around is to generate the perpetual evaluation key for the XPS_LL_TEMAC soft configuration from the link below.
