Generation of a core fails with an error similar to the following:
"ERROR:coreutil - Exception caught when running XST synthesis!
Failure to generate output products
ERROR:coreutil:576 - An error occurred while running Java. Please examine the console or coregen log file for a specific IP related error.
For more information please search the Xilinx Answers Database for this error: http://www.xilinx.com/support
ERROR:coreutil - java.io.IOException: xst: not found
ERROR:coreutil:308 - If the error occurred during generation, the problem may be due to a failure occurring in xst. Please check the xst log file - availablein the working directory.
ERROR:sim - Error found during generation."
The ISE software appears to be installed correctly. XST can be found and runs successfully from thecommand line.
This error occurs on Linux systems if the permissions for the XST executable are set to 750 (WRX,W_X,___) instead of 755, 775 or 777 (the standard install should result in permissions of 775).
Even though the user has permission to read and execute XST, the Java Virtual Machine created by theCORE Generator softwareappears to be using the permissions of "Other".
Changing the permission of the XST executable under $XILINX/bin/lin(for 32-bit)or $XILINX/bin/lin64 (for 64-bit) resolves the issue.
