Vivado - Is there a way to get critical install and system information for a given Vivado install?

In the ISE install environment, I was able to run Xilinx System Information checker (XINFO) to provide critical install and system information for the install.

Does Vivado have this capability?

The Vivado equivalent to XINFO is the report_environment Tcl command.

The report_environment command was introduced in Vivado 2013.1 with a limited set of the INFO information.

  1. System Information
  2. Environment variables

In Vivado Design Suite 2013.3, the report_environment command includes the following sections:

  1. System Information
  2. Environment variables
  3. DLL information...
  4. Installation information - showing what was installed, when.
  5. License information - showing all licenses available through Xilinx default license locations or through XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE or LM_LICENSE_FILE variables
  6. Tool preferences

Because the Vivado 2013.1 and 2013.2 report_environment only generates a report with System Information and Environment variables, the XINFO executable has also been included with the Vivado install.

To run XINFO:

  1. Open a command shell and CD to the <install Dir>\Vivado\2013.1\ids_lite\ISE\bin\<OS> (where OS =nt, nt64, lin or lin64) directory.
  2. Then type, "xinfo"

Alternatively, on Windows platforms, browse to the directory in an explorer window and double click on the executable.
