2014.2 Install - xsetup opens splash screen and then exits without an error when an exclamation point is contained in the install path

When attempting to install Vivado 2014.1 or 2014.2, running xsetup.exe from a location that contains a character such as "!" the installation splash screen appears and then immediately disappears with no error message.

This occurs if the directory xsetup.exe is run from is similar to the example below:

Also note that running C:\Install_launch\!!SW_installs!!\Xilinx\Xilinx_Vivado_SDK_2014.1_0405_1\bin>xsetup.bat produces the following JAVA error:

log4j:ERROR Could not parse url [jar:file:/C:\Install_launch/!!SW_installs!!/Xilinx/Xilinx_Vivado_SDK_2014.1_0405_1/lib/classes/xinstaller.jar!/data/log4j.xml].

I was able to use directories with exclamation points to successfully install older versions (e.g. 2013.x, 2012.x, etc.) of Vivado.

What has changed?

The 2014.1 installer is a completely new installer that includes new functionality to allow users to install selectable sets of software and devices and then later update the install with additional software and/or devices.

The exclamation point was never a supported character for installs but appears to have worked with previous versions of the installer.

In order to successfully install Vivado 2014.1 and later, it is required to move the install location to a folder which does not have this special "!" character in the path.
The Vivado 2014.3 installer will correctly catch any invalid path characters and issue an appropriate message.
