Is it possible to set the tool preferences and file association after Vivado has been installed?
By default this is enabled, but if I un-checked the box and then decide to associate it after installation, how can I do this?
The file associations are set to the last version of Vivado installed. Can I associate the files with a previously version?
In Vivado 2014.1 or later versions, you can follow the steps below:
Launch the network-setup installer C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2014.1\networkShortcutSetup.exe
( note: in Vivado 2015.1 and later, this is located in the C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.1\bin\ folder) In the product selection tree, unselect all of the checked installation options.
(Leaving them selected will not cause any issues, but is unnecessary) In the destination panel unselect the program group shortcut creation (Create program group entries), but keep the Create desktop shortcuts and the Create file associations.
Complete the installation process.
Your file associations will be restored to 2014.1 (Or the version corresponding to the version of networkShortcutSetup.exe that was executed).
File associations can also be set using the Windows "Choose Default Program" option.
