2015.1 Zynq PS7 Tactical Patch - Ethernet EMIO ports are not connected to primitive

Description

In Vivado 2015.1, if you create a block design and assign ENET1/ENET0 to EMIO, it does not function properly.

Root Cause:

A small number of Ethernet EMIO ports are not connected to primitive.

The following ENET1/ENET0 signals are left unconnected.

As a result, GEM1 (connected via EMIO) fails in the design.

The below section is from the processing_system7_v5_5_processing_system7.v file:

EMIOENET0GMIITXD (), //(ENET0_GMII_TXD_i),
EMIOENET0GMIITXEN (), // (ENET0_GMII_TX_EN_i),
EMIOENET0GMIITXER (), // (ENET0_GMII_TX_ER_i),

EMIOENET1GMIITXD (), //(ENET1_GMII_TXD_i),
EMIOENET1GMIITXEN (), // (ENET1_GMII_TX_EN_i),
EMIOENET1GMIITXER (), // (ENET1_GMII_TX_ER_i),

Solution

This is a known issue with Vivado 2015.1.

Please find attached a patch for this issue.

It is fixed in Vivado 2015.2 and this patch is no longer needed.

Installation/Use:

Method 1: (Vivado 2014.4 and later only)

  1. Navigate to the $XILINX_VIVADO/patches directory (create this directory if it does not exist)
  2. Extract the contents of the ".zip" archive to a directory starting with the name AR64531
Note: most extraction tools will allow you to automatically create a directory with the same name as the zip file
  3. Run Vivado software tools from the original install location

Method 2:

  1. Create a separate directory containing patched files
  2. Extract the contents of the ".zip" archive to the desired patch directory location
  3. Set the MYVIVADO environment variable to point to this patch directory
    (i.e. set MYVIVADO=C:\MYVIVADO\vivado-patch-AR64531\vivado\)
  4. Run Vivado software tools from the original install location

For further information on finding the Xilinx install and using the environment variable, see (Xilinx Answer 11630)
