Medical Imaging with CT Scanners and MRI Machines

Enable real-time, high resolution image processing with increased integration, flexibility and reliability

Overview

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) machines are large highly synchronous machines that require significant computational capabilities across their various subsystems.
The new adaptive SoC platforms from AMD, like the Versal AI Edge and the Versal AI Core series, have the ability to offer significant advantage in offloading/acceleration of image reconstruction (2D FFT for MRI and back-project for CT) and the integration of machine learning based image analysis in a single integrated platform and deliver strong AI performance at the same time.

The integration with AMD Zynq UltraScale+ SoC provides a platform for the high-speed SiC inverter control required in the gradient amplifiers, RF waveform synthesis required in RF transmit chain, and the massively parallel ADC interfaces and signal process required on the RF receive.  The coupling of an ARM processing system in the each of the sub-systems provides a platform for low-latency critical communications, maintenance, and co-processing functions to be implemented in a rich OS environment.
